About Zendrix
Hendrik van der Merwe has been part of South African electronic music since the beginning of it. He was a member of Earthlings in 1992 and EarthDreams in 1994, then, as Zendrik, a founder member of Nagual from 1995 to 2000, playing regular live sets at Rustler's Valley, Vortex and Alien Safari.
Collaborations and live sets at the Gwaing River Mouth on the Garden Route followed through the 2000s. From 2014 to 2018 he facilitated ecstatic dance in San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala, performing with Mose and joining the Tambour Collective and Raga Funk Spaceship.
Zendrix Live has since travelled from Arambol in Goa to Dharamshala, Summer Solstice, SpiritFest and Louvain Burn. The set moves from ambient to dance beats, built live from Ableton with looping ngoni harp, handpan, woodwinds, poetry and mantras, and joined along the way by guest solo artists.
Alongside the music he works as a somatic therapist and teacher, sound healer and ceremony musician.
