earthdance cape town

A local gathering in a global movement for peace, music, connection and collective celebration.

Three days of dancefloors, workshops, ceremonies and camping under the mountains — built around the worldwide Prayer for Peace linkup at 01:00 SAST on Saturday 19 September.

What Earthdance Is

More than a festival weekend

Earthdance is a gathering shaped by music, movement, creativity, participation and a shared moment of global connection. Each year, Earthdance communities around the world come together for the Prayer for Peace: a synchronised linkup that reminds us we are part of something bigger than one dancefloor, one city or one scene.

Cape Town is one expression of that global movement. Ours is a spring gathering rooted in people, place and the simple power of coming together well.

Why This One Is Different

Built around a single shared moment

At the centre of Earthdance is the Prayer for Peace linkup at 01:00 SAST on Saturday 19 September 2026: a worldwide moment shared across gatherings around the planet — the same words, at the same time, on every Earthdance dancefloor on Earth.

Everything around it supports that moment: the music, the dancefloor, the gathering spaces, the market, the people who build it. That is what makes Earthdance different. It is not only about attending something. It is about taking part in it.

What To Expect

Three days, many worlds

The dancefloor is the heartbeat, but the weekend is bigger than the music.

Music & dance

Full-spectrum across the weekend: psytrance, techno, drum & bass and acoustic sessions.

Workshops & experiences

Movement, skill-shares, talks and practices offered by the community, for the community.

Art & creativity

Stage art, installations, decor and the made-by-hand texture that gives the farm its glow.

Ceremonies

Openings, closings, the sacred fire at the Mellow Meadow — moments held with intention.

Community gathering

Shared meals, slow mornings, chance meetings. A camping village that becomes a town for three days.

The land itself

Open farmland between the mountains, a river to swim in, and a night sky you forgot existed.

The market village

A curated market of food, craft, clothing and wellness — built by vendors who fit the spirit.

The global linkup

The Prayer for Peace at 01:00 SAST on Saturday 19 September — the reason all of this exists.

"Earthdance begins before September. The festival is the meeting point, not the whole story."

The Journey to September

This year's theme: Heart and Beat of Humanity

The theme is not a slogan — it is the shape of the road. We are building toward Earthdance through a series of warm-up gatherings, each with its own energy, each one chapter closer to the farm.

Where It Began

Heart at Love in a Bowl

The first chapter of this journey began at Love in a Bowl in Hout Bay — a community farm that grows organic vegetables to help feed its town.

Heart was more than a warm-up event. It was a real meeting point between communities, and a reminder that Earthdance grows through relationship, not only promotion. That mattered to us, and it shaped the tone of the whole year.

Two Stages

Two worlds inside the weekend

Earthdance moves across two distinct stage worlds: one warmer and more relational, one more kinetic and dancefloor-led. The 2026 lineup and programme for both will be announced soon.

Mellow Meadow

Warm, relational and community-held: the softer side of the gathering, where care, ritual, workshops, slower moments and the central sacred fire live.

Programme coming soon.

Sonic Horizon

Kinetic, rhythmic and immersive: the stronger dancefloor pulse of the weekend, carrying trance, psytrance and night-time movement energy.

Lineup coming soon.
